What Is Graduation?

I waited for this day to come
A very special day
Yes, it is a milestone and
A reason to be merry

Different emotions I have right now
I don’t know how to feel
Butterflies flying in my stomach
Is a confusing, funny deal

Why do I feel this way, so weird?
I should be very glad
Because it’s the sweetest end
And it ends not that bad

Still there’s something
My heart is beating and saying
Tell me the message
So my day won’t be spoiling

I know graduation is the awaited culmination
Of all the homeworks and projects
End of meeting classmates and teachers
Passing all those different subjects

Why do people say it’s the start?
I’m confused, tell me why
I thought everything will stop
I can’t help but deeply sigh

Graduation is the great finishing line
For every little school matter
Yet it is the brand new beginning
Of a life that is real and better

That’s Graduation!

When you want to give a gift to somebody who will graduate in high school, a useful item is perfect. Especially when he’s a male, it is important for him to be prepared in college away from home. One of the best gifts for an incoming college male should receive is a tool box with all of the basic tools inside.

Nowadays, owning a well-equipped toolbox is something that not only fathers do. Younger men, especially college students in a boarding school take care of their own handyman issues. By giving them such gift, they would would feel the essence of independence and self-reliance. They will know how to do and repair basic projects around.

If you decide on giving a toolbox as a high school graduation gift, include a dozen of basic tools and put them inside. These basic tools include the following: hammer, screwdriver, tape measure, pliers, utility knife, wrench, crosscut drill and bits, level, hacksaw, pencil, ruler, and nails.

These tools can complete the toolbox that you will prepare. One thing to note in giving a toolbox as a gift is that, it doesn’t have to be big and heavy. There are toolboxes that are small and handy as well as tools too.

College graduation signify a very huge achievement. It is a milestone! It is the step on moving on to the real world, a world of growth and career opportunities. With that, college graduation gifts should be original, useful, and applicable in the graduate’s daily life. We might also want something that would perfectly make the him or her happy.

Money is the most helpful gift a graduate could receive. A gift of cash is always wonderful. It is always welcome. This can be a good idea whenever we don’t know what the graduate wanted to have as a gift. When we give cash, he or she will be the one to buy something out of that money. It is also nice to give the graduate new bills because it will let them keep the money in their wallet for a number of days just like most people who like to keep new bills for a while.

It is good to give the graduate a job interview clothing, an attire that he or she can use while looking for a job. Most employers will expect something professional these days, so a bit of formal clothes. Wearing the most appropriate outfit during job interviews sometimes gives an edge from all the applicants.

Newly graduates needs bags to put their things like books, resumes, laptops, etc… They would be needing nice soft-sided briefcases to keep their things and at the same time will make them look sophisticated. This kind of briefcase will give them a dignified, more professional personality.

Like birthdays and weddings, graduating from high school is a significant event in our life. A part of that event is to receive wonderful graduation gifts from friends and loved ones.

Most of the people want to give unique and fun gifts that’s worth remembering. Here are some gifts that are worth the price:

  • Laptop. A laptop is a very useful graduation gift especially when the grduate is about to step up for college. Laptops nowadays are so light that they can carry it anywhere and finds a wi-fi spot anywhere. The graduate can get instant information from the internet as the laptop gives access to many online resources such as search engines and encyclopedia. They can also use the laptop in note-taking and planning schedules. Participating in social media communities is free and easy. Encoding, transferring, and printing of documents and other file types gets smooth with a laptop.
  • Healing Jewelry. It is nice to know that wearing jewelry does not only make you look good but also make you stay healthy. This is going to be a good gift to a high school graduate. Knowing that he or she will be moving to a new environment for college, this healing jewelry might help in some ways. One of the famous healing healing jewelries is amber jewelry. It is clear and often contains a fossil of an insect that was trapped in it’s resin. It is believed that amber jewelry possesses remarkable health benefits. Amber jewelry brings relief from problems of the head, neck and throat of the person who wears them. This jewelry is recommended to those who are suffering from any body pains as it can also reduce fatigue and a feeling of weariness.
  • Umbrella. An umbrella is a very important tool in going to college. Sometimes, it may sound so unimportant because it sounds so ordinary. But whenever rainy season comes, we always look for an umbrella. It helps us go out through the rain. Aside from that, we also look for an umbrella whenever the sun is extremely hot. Among all, this is the most important and the most inexpensive too.

Graduation means the finish line for some students. Yes, it maybe is but it is also the door for a new start. For some, it is a time for expecting and receiving graduation gifts. That makes choosing the best gift a big deal.

Looking for a right gift for a graduate can be challenging sometimes. But at least, there are some practical items that are best choice of gifts. It is just up to you on how to package them so well as you’d like.

If we are to give a graduation gift, majority of us will go for a cheap yet a special stuff that the graduate might need and appreciate along the way. You can choose by thinking you’d like to receive if you are the one to receive the gift. Choosing one can be a whole lot of fun.

I have listed here some gifts that are money-saving and I think very helpful in the graduate’s new life. I usually call these gifts as short-term investments for the graduate’s future.

1. Free Shopping Coupons or Gift Certificates

This is one my most favorite stuff because as they say, the best things in life are free. Certainly the graduate will like for it will save a whole lot of money. I love to give gift certificates so that they can stock up on food while they are at school, they can reload gas anytime, they can refresh through a nice salon, they can watch movies, buy books, etc… without thinking of how much money they would have to pay.

2. Laundry Kit

This is an ideal gift for student who just graduated from high school. Since college makes a student very busy, they may never find time to keep their laundry hassle-free. We can start with a laundry basket or a laundry bag. Pick up a box or bottle of laundry detergent as ingredient number one in the kit. A liquid detergent may be a good choice. Put some stain treatments products for whites and as well as colored shirts. Throw in a bottled fabric conditioner. Dryer sheets are good too. Include a couple of rolls of quarters for those coin-operated machines and keep them in the laundry kit. You can also put a step by step guide on how to do the laundry. A freshman would really love this kind of gift.

3. Personal Organizers or Planners

This can be a great gift for a graduate because they can quickly flip to a month-at-a-glance calendar and view every day of their entire schedule with planner pages and page finders too. They can take notes and index them right in their planner. They can make lists of lot of things. With a planner, they can write the goals that they need to work on and keep track of them. Thus a planner can be always motivational. It is inexpensive but a very helpful gift.

4. First-Aid Kit

This kit have to be small and simple. You can buy a ready first-aid kit or just make one to give as a gift. Just keep the first aid kit small and simple, stocked with multi-use items such a s disinfectant alcohol, gauze pads, adhesive tapes, ace bandage, cold packs, latex gloves, band-aids, tweezers, sting creams, and bite treatments. You do not need to spend a lot of money on a fancy kit. A resealable sandwich or oven bags will do. You just have to package it nicely. It’s always a good idea for a graduate to have a first aid kit around.

5. Clothing

Whether that special graduate needs a new business suit or comfortable college clothes, new clothes make a great graduation gift. This may include t-shirts, sweaters, sports jerseys, & business attires. Clothing is practical for school, adventure, activity travels and all outdoor activities. There are however many stylish options so you can find suitable clothing for the graduate. This kind of gift is a daily need of the graduate, so giving such is a great help.

6. Food Kit

This is a very idea for graduation gift for anyone going to college. It is something special. A small suitcase filled with inexpensive necessities is so great. Necessities such as spoon, fork, mug, small plate, table napkins, cookies, instant noodles and instant hot chocolate or milk. All of these items can bought in a sale!

Graduation is an important milestone, filled with thrill and excitement. Because graduation is the culmination of years of hard work, an ideal gift can be the best payback. These gifts enumerated can be the perfect gifts for the graduates, for a perfect gift doesn’t really have to be expensive.

Not The Medals

On July 28, 2011, in Unique Gifts, by Ave

I was so happy knowing that graduation day is fast approaching. Aside from being the lead star in our play, I was the Salutatorian with lots of special awards. I said to myself , I will be wearing lots of shining medals, and these medals would the greatest graduation gifts in my whole life. The thought of it made me so happy and so proud of myself.

Then graduation day came, I woke up early and softly uttered few words from my speech. It made me so excited. Yes, it was a beautiful morning. My aunt who was my guardian hired somebody to do my hair and make-up. I had a new white dress and a new pair of shoes for that occasion. I felt everything was new on that very day.

When we reached the school, I saw different kinds of people. I saw my girl classmates wearing beautiful dresses just like me. I also saw my boy classmates who were looking good that day. Their parents were present. Some were boasting of their child’s awards. Some were just chatting. Some who were former classmates looked like having reunions. Others were making new friends.

So this is it, I said to myself. This what graduation day looks like. This what graduation day feels like. I really felt floating. I felt like a star.

Then somebody disturbed my happiness. Yes, it was one of our teachers. She called me, for the program is about to start. She also made some last-minute instructions about the play that I was leading. I had understood everything and I was ready.

We all went outside the church to make a line for the processional march. Church? Yes, church because I was studying in a religious school funded by protestants abroad. It was the best school in town as it was the only private school. All incoming students will have to take and pass the diagnostic exams and anybody who fails will not be able to  enroll. The name of the school itself was so cool. That made me very proud that I graduated from such school.

Going back to the preparation of the processional march. We lined up. I had my aunt on the other side. We waited for the next instructions while others were busy looking for their line numbers. As my eyes were busy playing around the school campus, I saw this woman from the school gate approaching. She was running. She was crying. I paid no attention for it was not related with the graduation thrill that I was just feeling since few hours ago. But something unexplainable wanted to turn my eyes back on her. Before I could turn my head towards her, she already hugged me. She was my mother, my biological mother. She told me that I was her daughter.  She was crying hysterically. I didn’t know what to do that time. I was carried away by her emotions or maybe by my emotions too. I cried instantly. She told me that she waited for so long for us to meet again. It was funny for I didn’t even remember that we’ve met before. How did she know that I was her daughter? She must have hugged the wrong girl. Mother’s instincts maybe as what others say. Now, I felt I was the center of attaction by people, by everyone. I felt they were watching a dramatic movie, like a mother and child reunited.

Then, the program had to continue. There she saw me in the play. She saw me did some acting. She saw me sang. She saw me cried. She saw me laughed. She saw me went up the stage and garnered medals. Instead of my aunt, she was the one who put my medals on. I just wondered where was she for more than a decade? Anyway, I didn’t allow my doubts and hesitations to ruin my graduation day.

During that day, I felt like I was not the same anymore. I was happy though having lots of questions in my mind. Everything became different. I didn’t look around anymore. I looked at myself, then I looked at my mother. I looked at my aunt who was crying too. Yes, everything was really different. It was one great and different graduation experience.

Then I realized, it was not the medals that made me happy and proud. It was suddenly changed. Meeting and knowing my real and biological mother made me happy and proud. It was the best graduation gift I had received.

Graduation is a very important event that is always remembered. This is the time that we are about to enter the so called “real world”. Gifts also play an important role in every graduation. These make the graduation more fun and enjoyable.

If I have to be asked on what gift I would like to receive on my graduation day, I would choose something that would remind me of my graduation. Of course, it doesn’t have to be expensive. I just wanted something that signifies graduation.

I could always put this anywhere in the house, but I prefer this to be displayed in my bedroom. With the graduation photo in the picture frame, I would always remember that very speical day.

Hugging stuffed toys can be comforting especially when we’re away with our family. A stuffed toy that wears toga and cap is so cute to cuddle.

I always use mugs during breakfast when I drink milk. Seeing a mug with a graduation message on it is so touching, especailly when you can read it all over again, everyday.

  5. A Graduation Scrapbook

Maybe a close friend can make this and compile some photos of me when I’m at school or anything that has something to do with the school before I graduate. I really like scrapbooks and it won’t bore me if I receive many scrapbooks from different friends.

  6. A T-shirt With Signatures Or Messages Of My Teachers In School

It is undeniable that our teachers are part of success that we are going to achieve during graduation. As for me, I wanted to remember all the teachers who have taught me some lessons in school and some lessons in life as well.

  7. A Personalized Diploma Frame

Having my diploma with a very nice diploma frame mounted on the wall, I would always remember my graduation day especialy the memories I have in school.

  8. A Graduation Bracelet

A bracelet can be worn on different occasions. Wearing it is like reminiscing the graduation. If I don’t feel like wearing it, I could always put it in the jewelry box and treasure it forever.

  9. A Book About Surviving School And Stepping On To Another Level

I love to read books. If I receive a gift like this, I would be very thankful for it will bring back the struggles I endured during school. It would also serve as a guide as I will move on to the next level.

  10. A Personalized Graduation Calendar

I wanted the calendar to have my photo on it, so that everytime I have to check on dates and appointments, I would also see my face wearing my graduation gown and cap.

  11. A Graduation Photo Ceramic Tile

This tile can be used for display purposes, except if I want it to be mounted on my bathroom.

  12. A Graduation Photo Book

It is always fun to look back on the memories captured during graduation day. It can be simply a photo album with all the pictures during graduation day. I would expect that this gift will be given to me a day after graduation.:)

  13. A Batch Imprinted T-shirt

A t-shirt that says “I’m from Class 2011″ is so cool. Wearing it will make me always proud.

  14. A Graduation Button Pin

I could put this button pin on bags, clothes or anywhere as this is a multi-purpose accessory.

  15. A Personalized Wall Clock

A wall clock with a graduation photo on it is nice to look at, especially when you have to take a look at the time, you will also see yourself achieving the success that you’ve always dreamed of.

  16. A Graduation DVD

Receiving a gift like this is so awesome, considering the time and effort a family or friend had to spare to make this one.

  17. A Graduation Party

This is not necessary but if I’ll be given a surprise graduation party, I would be surprised enough!

How About Some Cash?

Graduation is a remarkable moment in a person’s life. It is commonly tagged as the finish line of all the struggles in school, however it is also the fresh beginning of a new path, a career path. It is undeniable that happiness is overflowing during graduation as it is also the time of giving and receiving gifts.

When you don’t have the time anymore to shop and look for a gift that you friend would like, I would suggest that you give him/her money. Yes, money because you wont have a hard time looking for one. You can immediately give it even it at the last minute.

Money is the best gift for a graduating student because it can meet the needs of the student especially nowadays that the needs of a regular person is increasing. With the money that you had given, the graduate will be the one to decide on what to do with it. The graduate will be the one to decide if he/she would spend it all shopping or not.

Money is very helpful especially when it used or spent properly. Some people may don’t like money to be given as a gift because it has no value in giving, as they say. Worry not, for when somebody gives someone a money, the essence of giving is still there. There’s the thought of giving that kind of gift, right? Somehow it will help aid on a graduate’s finacial problem too.

Popular as it is, money is also a unique gift for the graduates especially during rush hours.

A Graduation Letter

On July 8, 2011, in Personalized GIfts, by Ave

Graduation is one of the most-awaited days of the students. Not only because they finally passed the ladder of schooling but also because there will be gifts. They will be receiving lots of graduation gifts.

If I have to graduate again from high school, I wanted to receive a gift that is worth-remembering through my whole life. I wanted to receive a graduation letter from my family and friends. I wanted to receive best wishes written on a paper.

From my family, I wanted them to impart some wisdom by telling the experiences about their educational struggles and victories. It is very heartwarming to know what they have gone through and the learnings they were able to gain. It is also very meaningful to read some advice about life that will serve as a guide as I go on to college.

From my friends, I wanted to see their different penmanships, well aside from cherishing the friendships we have made. Reading about how the friendship started, how we’ve became good friends are good to reminisce. High school friends have the closest bond, so I like to expect some parting words that would also make me realize the importance of friendship and letting go.

I know this is kind of melodramatic, but it is good to note that a letter is forever. With a letter, we will be able to read it again and remember what had happened right after graduation. With a letter, we will be able to smile about what were the emotions mixing that time. Most importantly, we are going to refresh the memories from our friends and the life’s advice from our parents, through a letter. Why? Simply because a graduation letter is a gift forever.

As I was thinking about what to give as a graduation gift. I have come up an idea of scrapbooking. This might be laborious for some, but for me its worth the labor. With scrapbooking, every detail of the graduate’s life can be manifested. As such, this scrapbook can be your friend of family’s thumbnails. It is like a showcase of a fondest memory while you were still friends or part of the family.

I would like to share some tips on how to do a scrapbook for a graduating friend or family:

  • Collect photos from you family friends and arrange them according to the dates when he/she was still young until he/she graduated.
  • In every photo, write a caption or a little story about the photo. Colored pencils can be used.
  • As you write the captions, try to remember what he/she did or told you that day that was unforgettable.
  • Then assemble and glue the pictures to the leaves of scrapbook. Same to do with the captions.
  • In every page of the book, try to decorate with little stuff. Of course we don’t want to spend too much for this because creativity will help to do the thing.
  • Unused small buttons, dried leaves, small flowers, colorful yarns are just few examples of the accessories that can decorate a scrapbook beautifully.
  • Unhappy times of life can also be reflected on the scrpabook and I’m sure you are just going to laugh because it was long ago. You may want to post the non-so-good memories too and how they were being encountered.

It will show the memories of your friends and family. Doing and giving such gift will develop your sense of giving and sharing. Aside from that, creativity will be exercised well. Through scrapbooking, we will realize that money is not always the key to happiness but also expressing ourselves and that can be best done through scrapbooking.

Whoever receives a scrapbook during a graduation will be the happiest graduate among all.
